Mutton Snapper & Cero Report

Fishing was a little tough, but the crew made the best of it with a quality mutton snapper for dinner and a quick cero mackerel release while moving spots.

Fishing was a little tough today, but the crew was able to make the best of it and put together a solid day on the water.

The morning started with catching pilchards for bait. They were a little scarce, but we were able to find enough to get the day going. Once we got out to about 115 feet of water, Kit dropped a bottom rod with a live pilchard and it loaded up almost instantly.

We worked the fish to the boat and it turned out to be a large mutton snapper — a great fish for dinner and a nice reward on a day when every bite mattered.

While heading to the next spot, we put out a cedar plug on the troll. Within a few minutes the rod went off, and we were able to catch and release a cero mackerel before getting back to the dock.

We’re fishing the same group again tomorrow and looking forward to another fun-filled day on the water.
