Best of the Upper Keys Trip Delivers

A special charity trip for the Florida Keys Children's Shelter turned into an unforgettable day offshore with a perfect 2 for 2 on sailfish and a mixed bag of mahi mahi, cero mackerel, and mutton snapper.

Saturday, April 18th was a special day on the water for more than one reason. This trip was donated to the Best of the Upper Keys auction, and the proceeds benefited the Florida Keys Children's Shelter. We were proud to be a part of something that helps support such an important cause for children and youth throughout the Florida Keys, and it made an already memorable day feel even more meaningful.

The fishing definitely lived up to the occasion. We went 2 for 2 on sailfish, which is always a huge highlight and made for an exciting day offshore. There is nothing quite like getting multiple sailfish bites and capitalizing on every opportunity, and the group did a great job making it happen.

On top of the sailfish action, we also put together a nice mixed bag with a mahi mahi, a cero mackerel, and a mutton snapper. Days like that are always fun because you get a little bit of everything, and it really shows off how special fishing in Islamorada can be this time of year.

What made this trip stand out even more was the bigger picture behind it. Knowing this charter came from the Best of the Upper Keys auction and that the proceeds went to the Florida Keys Children's Shelter made the day feel like a win all around. Great people, a great cause, and great fishing, that is hard to beat.

We’re grateful to have been able to donate the trip, and even more grateful that the winners were treated to such an action-packed day on the water. Between going 2 for 2 on sailfish and boxing a nice variety of fish, April 18th was one we will be remembering for a long time.
